150 Year Anniversary Celebrated

September 7, 2017

In a special commemoration service held for the whole College today, the Siena College community remembered the eight brave young Irish Sisters who arrive in Australia in September 1867 after three months at sea in a small wooden sailing ship called the Martha Birnie.

After the ceremony in the College gymnasium a short memorial was held in the Pioneer Sisters Amphitheatre, where a wreath was laid along with a candle for each of the Sisters after whom the amphitheatre is named.
