Learning Diversity

Siena College celebrates neurodiversity and caters to a wide range of learning abilities and needs. Each student is encouraged to identify her strengths and to use these to achieve her personal best. Learning Diversity staff work collaboratively with teachers and parents to provide an integrated support network for students with individual needs. It is recognised that every student learns differently and some may require a more flexible approach to their learning.

Academic or program support is available through individual, in-class or small group sessions. Targeted intervention programs are implemented where the learning needs of a student have been identified as requiring attention. Assistance can be provided to students in a range of areas including organisational and time management skills, study and research skills and exam preparation. Targeted programs designed to improve students' skills in numeracy, literacy, reading comprehension and organisation are offered.

Through our partnership with other local schools in the Boroondara Gifted Network, we are able to provide a range of engaging and challenging opportunities for students who demonstrate advanced abilities. The focus of the Diversity program is to provide opportunities to promote the growth of the individual student's skills and abilities. These activities enable students to extend their knowledge in areas of personal interest, work on projects with like minded peers, develop new skills and enrich their understanding of the world.

Learning Diversity activities may include:

  • Chess Tournaments
  • Enrichment Philosophy Program
  • Academic Challenge Days
  • Constitutional Conventions
  • Ethics Olympiad
  • World Scholar's Cup
  • Da Vinci Decathlon
