Learning and Teaching

Welcome back to Term 3. It is a busy term for parents and students alike, as we go through the subject selection process for 2020 and also hold our parent/teacher interviews on Thursday 12 and 19 September. More information will be sent about the parent teacher interviews closer to the time.

Our subject selection process commenced this week which can be both exciting and perhaps also daunting for some students. The College has a comprehensive process to support both students and parents in their decision making.

Over the next few weeks the Heads of Learning and Head of Senior Pathways will deliver presentations to the Years 8, 9 and 10 students, outlining subject options, on the following dates:

Year 10 - Thursday, 18 July
Year 9 - Thursday, 25 July
Year 8 - Thursday, 1 August

The Subject Selection Handbooks for each year level provides further information on subject content and topics and should be consulted when determining relevant subjects. All handbooks will be available on Siena Central in the Student Zone and Parent Portal after the relevant presentation.  There will also be year level presentations for students, explaining the subject selection process and how to complete the relevant forms.

Senior Pathways Information Evening

On Thursday, 1 August, Siena College will hold the Senior Pathways Information Evening. Years 9 and 10 students and their parents have been formally invited and Year 11 students and parents are also very welcome to attend should you wish to join us.

The Senior Pathways Evening will be an opportunity to attend a formal information session providing an overview of Year 10 and VCE/VET course requirements. Parents and students will also be able to seek individual subject advice from the Heads of Learning and VCE teachers, who will be in attendance at their faculty display for the duration of the evening.

To finalise the process, all Years 9, 10 and 11 students will attend individual transition interviews with a senior staff member.  Parents are invited to attend this interview if they wish. A CareMonkey registration has been sent to you to indicate your preferred timeslot.

Siena Central Digistorm App

Last year, a College App was made available to students and parents to complement use and access to Siena Central on laptops.

We would like to determine the extent and use of the App and if accessed by parents and students, how user friendly the features of the App have been. App users and non users are asked to complete a short survey to inform our future decision making regarding the availability of this app. Please click here to complete the survey.

The App has been created by a third party and requires separate login details:
