Sport News

We congratulate all Term 2 Girls Sport Victoria sports teams that made the finals. There was a wide representation across most sports and a strong result in the GSV Cross Country Carnival.

The Aerobics squad continues to train hard in preparation for the Victorian Aeroschools Competition on Friday, 2 August at the Community Bank Stadium. The girls have been training since the start of Term 2 and through the July holidays. Their commitment and dedication is of the highest standard and we wish them all the best for the State Competition.

We recognise three Siena College students who took part in the Victorian Hockey Junior State Championships at the State Hockey Centre in Melbourne during the school holidays.  The girls are all members of the Siena Junior Hockey team (GSV runners up last term) and they also play club hockey on the weekend. Trials for the Junior State Championships were held in April and teams were selected from a pool of three clubs. Training was held weekly for ten weeks prior to the tournament.

Lily Boyd- Clark and Olivia-Beau Cutler played in the Under 13 Red Devils Team which achieved third place out of ten teams in the tournament. Majella Hine played in the Under 15 Eastern Metro Hotshots which was the wining team in the Under 15 Tournament. Well done to these students on their achievement and dedication to improvement in their sport. The girls are pictured (L-R) Lily, Olivia, Majella in the gallery.

Term 3 weekly sport is about to commence, and we have several volleyball, badminton and soccer teams in action. Term 3 also sees the commencement of the GSV Athletics Season and we wish all teams and coaches the best of luck for the term. In addition, we continue to offer Siena Fit Club on Thursday mornings (7.30am to 8.15am at Siena College) for students in Years 7 to 12 who wish to participate in a social program and improve their fitness.

Please note that the Siena College House Athletics Carnival 2019 has been rescheduled to Friday, 20 September at the Bill Stewart Athletics Track (Burwood East). This is the last day of Term 3 and details of the carnival will be released shortly.

A reminder to parents to please ensure that you have given permission for your daughter to participate in Term 3 GSV Sport via Caremonkey, as without this permission we are unable to transport your daughter to an external venue.  Please email sport@siena.vic.edu.au with news of notable sporting achievements so we can continue to recognise our students.
