The Ascension – Sunday, 2 June

In the Acts of the Apostles, the disciples are questioned for 'standing there looking up to the sky.'

Looking up to the sky is often easier than looking at what is before us.
Looking up to the sky can be another way of looking away,
of averting our eyes from the daily reality of our sisters and brothers.

It is much easier to look away rather than remaining in the struggle whatever that may;
of being engaged in and participating in building God's reign to overcome oppression,
overcome poverty, and be part of the healing and reconciliation that is our due as God's people.

As the Ascension is about Jesus disappearing and leaving us, it is also about our staying behind.

This week all Year 7 students have had the opportunity to participate in their annual Reflection Day, held at Don Bosco Retreat Centre Lysterfield.

The focus was National Reconciliation Week and our role as Dominicans, activities included Christian meditation, a reflection on the 2019 College Theme ‘Called By Name’ and a Scripture Workshop looking at the story of Pentecost in the light of the following questions:

How can we be courageous in our world and speak truth?
Dominicans are seekers of truth – where will we find it?
