Congratulations to the recipients of this year's Notable Alumna Award, Community Award and the Dr Ursula McKenna Award, presented last Thursday at our Academic Awards evening.
The Community Award is presented to individuals or families (past or current) who make significant contributions to Siena College. Examples may include extended Board or Committee tenure or contribution, active and long serving volunteers such as Siena Parents’ Association (SPA) members, generational families who have remained loyal to the College or highly active staff members who are involved in after school or extra curricular activities. This year's winner, Maria Ang, retired at the conclusion of Term 4 after ten years of valued service to the College Archives department.
The Notable Alumna Award was presented to both former Board member Philippa Lovell and Gaynor Robson-Garth, Principal of Siena College from 2007-2019. Philippa was a member of the College Board from 2011-2018 and led the Board in implementing the Child Safe Standards and two successive Strategic Plans.
The Dr Ursula McKenna Award (provided by the Siena College Alumnae Association) was accepted by Dr Anne Marchingo on behalf of her daughter Dr Julia Marchingo (Class of 2006). Ursula McHenry (nee McKenna), Class of 1948, holds the distinction of being Siena College's first student to complete a tertiary education. After completing a Science and Medical degree, Ursula worked as a residential doctor, then in the psychiatric unit at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne. The award is presented to an alumna of the College and recognises excellence in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
