During Reconciliation Week, our FIRE Carriers were privileged to participate in the annual Long Walk hosted by Aquinas College in Ringwood, which is one of the largest events in Melbourne promoting Reconciliation. The event honoured the original Long Walk which took place in 2004, when Michael Long walked from Melbourne to Canberra to meet with the then Prime Minister, John Howard, in order to draw attention to the issues facing First Nations Australians.

Walking in Solidarity with our First Peoples, our FIRE Carriers came together with the entire Aquinas College student population and students from other FIRE Carrier schools to highlight the importance of schools coming together to promote Reconciliation, vividly demonstrating the 2023 National Reconciliation Week theme, Be a Voice for Generations.

We know that the work of reconciliation is not achieved in one week, but Siena College is committed to a more inclusive future for all Australians.
